Hulk TV show is delayed
When is Hulk coming back to the small screen?
Well, I did not like Josh Whedon’s Avengers. In my opinion all Whedon has accomplished is to let the characters become caricatures and automatons for oneliners. But who am I do doubt this blockbuster that grossed over one billion US-Dollars? Strangely especially the Hulk left a lasting impression on many fans. Although I consider this a good thing, since I generally love him and consider him the modern version of Dr. Jeckyll and Mr. Hyde.
Anyone remember the TV show from the 1970ies? Yeah, the one with that fantastic melancholic piano theme
. Bill Bixby played Dr. Bruce David Banner while Lou Ferrigno starred as the Hulk. After the success of the Avengers Marvel developed plans for a new Hulk TV series. It gets even better: Guillermo del Toro was the man behind the series. Mark Ruffalo even wanted to reprise his role from The Avengers. This sounds awesome to you? I agree. But sadly it seems the project is on hold. It might even never come to fruitition at all. The reason might be Joss Whedon’s news series S.H.I.E.L.D.
In an interview with MTV News del Toro reveals: “I met with Jeph Loeb after ‘Avengers,’ but after that meeting, there’s been complete radio silence on the show.” He sounds rather frustrated: “I haven’t heard anything in months about the show, but obviously ‘Avengers’ is a game-changer for Marvel. It’s their property, and if I don’t make it, at least I’ll watch it.”
Probably Marvel does not want to overuse their precious Avengers franchise and deems one TV series enough for the moment. With Whedon’s TV series and new individual movies like Iron Man 3, Thor: Dark World and Captain America: Winter Soldier coming, maybe a second TV series about the Hulk is too much.
This is sad. Since I found Avengers to be only average but love del Toro’s movies I would have prefered a new Hulk series instead of Whedon’s S.H.I.E.L.D.
